IDC is seeking for a Research Manager, Computing and Storage, responsible for researching, writing and advising clients on current and emerging server and storage strategies and products. The successful candidate will become an important member within a team of industry experts and will be looked upon as a frequent contributor to IDC's server and storage research. As a Research Manager, the individual will be required to deliver high-quality (quantitative and qualitative) research projects, provide high levels of customer interaction, and regularly execute on research deliverables. The individual will be responsible for a broad understanding of the server and storage markets while simultaneously taking a sharper focus on select segments within each market.

  • Work on IDC’s quarterly data products; conducting data segmentation, modelling, analysis and reporting
  • Building new product and market taxonomies while working with clients and internal colleagues
  • Build and enhance vendor models used to calculate top line performance of select vendors
  • Develop and maintain market models designed to size, segment & forecast select markets
  • Create and deliver PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate current and future market trends
  • Become the lead analyst within one of IDC's computing platforms and/or storage markets
  • Write research and market reports using secondary and primary survey data
  • Collaborate with research teams covering adjacent IT markets


  • Bachelor's degree required (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Finance preferred)
  • Proven experience working within a market research, consulting or product related role
  • Understanding and interest in enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of projects with frequent and immovable deadlines
  • Ability to work well with others on the team and independently
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong writing, communication & analysis skills
  • Strong project management expertise

The position will be located in Framingham, MA. Some travel is expected.
