The Network Infrastructure Group is looking for a dynamic individual who is knowledgeable about IoT and Mobile/Cellular Network Technologies, to assume a Manager position covering market research and consulting as it relates on the ongoing technology and market transformation amongst service providers and enterprises related to technology/infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities


  • Technology and Market Analysis: Serves as IDC’s subject matter expert as it pertains to IoT and Mobile Network Technologies, and the ongoing transition among service providers to build next gen mobile network infrastructure solutions (e.g. LPWAN, 5G). Digital transformation and a rapidly changing competitive landscape is motivating service providers to evolve faster than ever before, while embracing many of the learnings from cloud and network virtualization, including the ability to leverage open source across the infrastructure stack. Understanding of SDN/NFV in the telecom domain is a key requirement for this position, while knowledge of Cloud and IoT network infrastructure technologies will be a bonus.
  • Thought-leadership: Provides leadership thinking around current mobile industry shifts, and what the impacts of these shifts mean both to enterprises and vendors alike in how infrastructure hardware and software solutions are delivered into these market segments, including the increasing value of "eco-systems". Substantiating with quantitative and qualitative analysis is a key requirement of this position.
  • Research and Consulting: Develops and/or customizes Mobile/Cloud/IoT research and consulting projects to meet the specific needs of existing clients, including domain-specific market insights, surveys, white papers, webcasts, on-site strategy sessions, forecasts, videos or presentations. The successful candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently to support a range of publishing, consulting, forecasting, market modeling, and thought leadership activities.

Domain Experience Requirements

 

  • Mobile/Cellular network technologies leading to 4G/5G deployments, including virtualized and cloud-based deployment topologies and architectures
  • Emerging LP WAN and other IoT protocols and technologies across enterprise and SP deployments (e.g. NB-IoT, Sigfox, Lora, LTE-M)
  • Adoption of network virtualization and software technologies such SDN/NFV for mobile deployments; including adoption of open-source platforms and protocols
  • IoT Infrastructure: Network technologies, Edge IT Network Infrastructure, Gateway Platforms/Strategies
  • 5G Network infrastructure migration strategies of service providers, including SDN/NFV use cases, strategies and solutions.

Skills and Professional Background

 

  • Industry Knowledge on Mobile Network Transformation, Cloud/NFV architectures, and/or IoT Infrastructure
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Good presentation skills and experience
  • Collaboration across IDC's related domain teams
  • Minimum 5-10 years industry experience across vendors and/or service providers
