Overview

IDC is seeking a highly strategic, execution-focused Chief of Staff to support the Chief Research and Data Officer. The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Research and Data Officer, supporting the leadership teams across IDC's Research, and Data & Custom organizations. This role is designed to drive operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and strategic execution across a global team of analysts and data professionals. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of analytical rigor, organizational savvy, and executive presence to help scale IDC's impact in the evolving AI and digital economy.

 

This is a hybrid role located in Needham, MA .

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Partner with senior leaders to define, track, and operationalize strategic priorities across research, product, and data initiatives.
  • Executive Communications & Reporting: Prepare executive-level presentations, board updates, and internal communications that articulate progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a central point of contact across Research, Data & Custom teams to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead rhythm-of-business activities including quarterly business reviews, operating cadences, and performance tracking.
  • Special Projects: Lead the technology enablement of the Research, Data & Custom organizations. Align the product organization with the commercial organization to accelerate the mobilization of product ideas and go-to-market readiness.
  • Team Enablement: Support talent development, onboarding, and internal communications to foster a high-performing, globally distributed team.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, or chief of staff roles within technology, research, or data-driven organizations.
  • Proven ability to work with executive leadership and manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience in a global, matrixed environment is preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.

At IDC, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. We pay our employees equitably for their work, commensurate with their individual skills and experience. Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $200,000 and $300,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
