Overview

IDC is building the next generation of intelligent, AI-powered platforms that transform how technology decisions get made. This confidential initiative re-imagines the way decision-makers discover and interact with trusted research and data—and will be foundational to IDC’s future.

 

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager – Technical (PM-T) to lead the product strategy, architecture, and execution for a core pillar of this new platform. You will operate as the single-threaded owner for a critical domain, working across engineering, AI/ML, research, and design to deliver a seamless and scalable product experience.

 

This role is a rare opportunity to define the strategy for a zero-to-one system—shaping how content is modeled, how user intents are recognized, and how insights flow across the IDC ecosystem. The right candidate will bring deep technical fluency, customer obsession, and a track record of delivering high-impact platform products in fast-paced environments.

 

This role can be located in an approved US based location working from a remote home office. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, long-term strategy, and roadmap for a foundational capability within IDC’s next-gen discovery platform.
  • Define the data models, technical architecture, and platform interfaces that power intelligent, context-aware product experiences.
  • Partner with engineering to design and deliver scalable APIs, system components, and observability layers that enable extensibility and reuse.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate capabilities such as semantic search, LLM-powered assistants, personalization, and classification systems.
  • Write PRFAQs and technical narratives that align senior leadership, drive clarity across functions, and accelerate high-judgment decisions.
  • Engage directly with CIOs, analysts, and vendor partners to validate pain points and iterate toward product-market fit.
  • Define success metrics, build telemetry strategies, and use experimentation to drive continuous learning and iteration.
  • Serve as the single-threaded owner for your domain, mentoring others and raising the quality bar across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with 4+ years in a technical or platform product role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Proven track record of shipping 0→2 products or scaling platform capabilities in ambiguous, high-accountability environments.
  • Deep technical fluency—you can meaningfully shape architecture, API design, and system trade-offs with engineering teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to influence VP- and SVP-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives that span engineering, data science, design, and research.
  • Strong business and customer orientation; experience driving adoption, engagement, and measurable business outcomes.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building or scaling AI/ML-powered products, especially involving search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or entity extraction.
  • Familiarity with knowledge graph design, semantic modeling, or enterprise data platforms.
  • Background working with structured research, metadata systems, or content syndication at scale.
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS, developer platforms, or B2B intelligence solutions.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, manage ambiguity, and influence outcomes in a matrixed organization.

At IDC US, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. We pay our employees equitably for their work, commensurate with their individual skills and experience. Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $190,000-$220,000 USD and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation.
